Adulting Is Haaaaaard

And I'm 61.

Also, writing is getting less hard.

But I'm still 61.

Faced with further contemplation of all those facts, I am going to bed.

Bonus comment. I have new slippers, about which I am overwhelmingly excited.

See previous comments about being 61.

ETA: Augh. I should have made it clear that yesterday was not my birthday, which was back last September. I was just whining about being old. Thanks to all for the birthday wishes, they will make my 62nd birthday, eight months or so from now, extra nice.

Feeling reassured that finding adulting hard at 46 is a-okay. I've still got a while to perfect things.

Yay for slippers, yay! And writing.

I have never believed in slippers, preferring a simple pair of big, fuzzy socks. And yet this year I am kind of drawn to the idea.

It is a good icon, isn't it? I like it too.

You make good points re:dirt, though I always take my shoes off immediately when I come in the house because why would one continue wearing shoes when one does not have too? This is where my dislike of slippers comes in, as they feel like continuing to wear pseudo-shoes when one could, instead, be wearing no shoes at all, which is obviously the preferable condition.

If I were to get slippers, I'd go with those ones that look like someone cut a corner off a duvet and sewed it into an enormous, fluffy foot shape.

Was it a birthday, and the slippers a birthday present?

This post with its edit made me chuckle. For Christmas this year, I asked for a new travel coffee/tea mug and slippers. I got four travel mugs, and no slippers. I was sad. Well, the travel mugs were very nice and all, but *sigh*. I was once the Barefoot Queen and now I share your slipper love. :)

I was born several years before you.

My body is ageing. Bits of it are wearing out.

My mind is at least as good as ever, and filled with far more interesting information and ideas/things to explore/enjoy than it used to be.

You can probably use the above descriptions for yourself, accurately.

Now get out of that. I dares ya :P

p.s. Good footwear is ALWAYS important, especially when bits are wearing out (see above)

I struggle with ordinary words, I have difficulty organizing my thoughts in a way I did not once have to...

How much of that is caused by stress? Of which you seem to have had lotsandlotsandlots in recent times? Just saying.

(Hrm. I see I still have enough wits about me that I can write a gloriously prolix sentence.)

Quod erat demonstrandum, dude :D

Dude. New slippers are exciting no matter WHAT age.

And I'm glad to hear writing is getting easier. Though I'm dismayed that adulting doesn't. Dammit.

Happy birthday! Regardless of the progression of ages, I hope it was a good one. Slippers are good for sure.

Ah, oops! I misread the "and" part, not as a continuation of your title but more like "aaaaaand". No need for me to accelerate those birthdays ;)

Was it for this I uttered prayers,
And sobbed, and cursed, and kicked the stairs,
That now, domestic as a plate,
I should retire at half-past eight?

One of my favorite poems, along with:

"Safe upon the solid rock the ugly houses stand;
Come and see my shining castle built upon the sand!"

She really had a way with words.

Happy birthday, still! A good part of age is in the mind, and your mind is quicker, more open and more brilliant than that of a great many youngsters I know ;) (Though I understand the body reminds one of less pleasant aspects! My mother gets that a lot ;))
