Since I'm On My Second Martini

... and somewhat lacking in observational and analytic eloquence I might otherwise bring to the task, I shall only describe the mandatory staff meeting to which I and my colleagues were forced this morning - and the "information" we received thereat - in the GIF form of interpretative dance:

What was it this time? "After replacing our photographers with iPhones and your laptops with iPads, we've decided to get rid of the cafeteria and replace it with an iVendingmachine"?

The state of both journalism & employment in this country. Ugh.

And some kittens, because they make everything just a little better:

You're right, though, GIFs really are kind of like interpretive dance!

Edit: whoops, bad html!

Ahh, I am sorry, I haven't forgotten, I am just the worst at scheduling! I think one of those might work--maybe Friday, since I don't have class that day.

Ouch. Well, I suppose...

("It" being you sitting through the meeting, not whatever shit your management is trying to do this time, which I am sure really does not have to be done.)

Too bad you had to be professional about it instead of having the very justified reaction like:

Gank away! That octopus really is perfectly expressive for a lot of situations. Sadly, as with so many gifs, I have no idea where they originated.

LOL at your RDJ confusion. Yeah, the makeup is rather different from his usual appearance. I really enjoyed that movie, though I understand it is not everybody's thing.

I have definitely been in many, many meetings where that gif would apply.

(Everyone else has gifs. My collection is quite small and chiefly involves David Collings. Have the most appropriate and I can find and the most random (not even involving Mr Collings for a wonder. Everyone needs a stray barometer from time to time...):

Thanks Mama K!

I'm off to get my hair cut before heading to the Exhibition opening that precipitated the argument with a colleague (long story, but boils down to not giving me info as the site manager, because she'd talked to the FoH team, and one of my managers, but not me.)

Cos God firbid I might want to know what's planned on site to make sure it runs smoothly. (Esp as someone else involved had complained the site team hadn't helped, but nobody had told me/us what they wanted help with!)

There was frustrated crying at work yesterday. I hate doing that and was apologising to my boss for crying down the phone at him. It was the culmination of a busy, hectic and frustrating two weeks, and the straw that therefore broke the camel's back!

Luckily the two colleague I was about to have a meeting with were lovely and understanding, and reassured me I'm not the only one that has those kindsproblems with this individual!

So, I'm going to get my hair done, turn up (get changed into smart stuff), and let her run it, as she assured me it was all sorted.... If they've forgotten something, or it's not sorted, then it's her problem.

The only thing I'll step in for is fire-safety related things - I'll put my foot down when we reach capacity.

I have new glee ready to watch when I come home, and there'll be another ep of Strictly Come Dancing too, and I may have planned to get a takeaway, so coping strategies are in place already

Meh, it was ok.

She managed to thank everyone but me, which was charming (didn't want an individual acknowledgement or anthing, but considering she made a point of saying thank you to 'C.... who was the site manager, and the Museums Assistants' and various other named individuals I was bit taken aback.

I'm hoping it was her being oblivious, not a diliberate snub... Bah humbug. I then I felt annoyed with myself for feeling a bit upset by it. (Stupidly, it was our Business Assistant, who was in to help serve drinks saying 'Well, I'll say thank you Heather' to me quietly later that may me a little glassy-eyed...)

I chickened out of dealing with her cramming more chairs/people into downstairs (even though both FoH had told her of the concerns), as pretty sure it'd have turned into an arguement. Told C about it when she arrived, and ask her to handle it, as I felt it would be less likely to cause a scene.

I have come home, watched Glee, ate Chinese (Chicken & Cashew nuts with noodles) and I'm going to watch SCD in half an hour and put stupid petty co-worker out my brain. There may be wine cracked open...
